It is great that Jimmy Akin is now an affiliate. I have been listening to him for years at Catholic Answers. As a side note everyone learns square dancing in California while in the fourth grade, but modern square dancing doesn’t look at all the same. My brother and I started square dancing in the early 80′s with our parents. It is great fun for the whole family. Here is an example of a call everyone can do – STACK THE WOOD, which is a HUG.

Episode 100 of Catholic Weekend celebrates the genesis of this podcast and the motley crew that keeps showing up to do it. This was a big experiment that somehow turned into something we’ve grown to love. Fr. Roderick, Maria, and Capt. Jeff reminisce about the early episodes, and Sean McCarney from Just a Catholic Dad tries to bring some British class to the segment, only — not.

First, I love the new design of CatholicWeekend.SQPN.com and all the subsites/main site– its easy to navigate and read posts. And, Capt. Jeff: your pick of the week sounds (literally, “sounds”) interesting – I was looking for something to connect my iPod touch to my small beringer mixer, which then connects to my macbook so I can record podcasts (www.specialchronicles.com), because as I’m sure you and other podcasters can attest, Garageband is not doing anything when I record–it’ll just stop recording in the middle of recording a podcast. So, for the past couple of podcasts, I’ve had to use QuickTime player to record, but even that can get tricky, so long story short, I’m going to look into your pick of the week.
Half way through listening to this weekend’s Catholic Weekend podcast, I was walking home from my neighborhood Starbucks coffee and I stopped in my parish’s Sacred Heart Chapel of Eucharistic Adoration and prayed for SQPN’s giving campaign and Rosary Army’s giving campaign. I was inspired to spend some time in our Adoration chapel with Jesus, thanks to my paster’s homily this morning. Our new pastor is great at giving homilies – he always adds some humor. And after I spent sometime in Adoration, I passed the front of our parish and on our parish’s sign, it read “Happy Birthday, Father Michael Danek, CR. (Our parish is now Pastorally led by the Resurrectionist Fathers and Brothers) And I found out from my dad, that our paster, Fr. Michael, used to go to the same elementary Catholic parish school in the city of Chicago where he went and was in the same class in school as one of my aunts, who lives in Fort Worth, Texas (ironically where next year’s Catholic New Media Conference 2012 will be, so I’ll be praying that I attend the CNMC again).
My pick of the week is “Marian Minute”: http://www.marianminute.org/en/ I discovered this website from listening to the 2 guys, a girl and a Catholic podcast from Austin Catholic New Media, when Jason Elizondo from the Catholic Warthog podcast mentioned this website, where you can give a minute a day to pray with our blessed Mother, Mary.

Thanks for your comments. Before you head off to buy the kVConnection cable for your iPhone, I should elaborate a bit more. I actually used it to connect my iPhone to my mixer so I could participate in the Skype conference call. I still used one of the “outs” of my mixer to send the entire mix to my Zoom H2 recorder. That said, I really don’t see any reason that you couldn’t use the cable to send the mix to your iPhone (or iPod Touch) to record the show with a recording app. I’m not sure if you could record in stereo (I’ll have to experiment with it), but, it would still be a very capable solid state recorder. Then, your MacBook would be available to use as a sound clip player, using SoundByte/SoundBoard/iTunes/whatever.
Thanks for praying for SQPN… we really need your prayers! And, I hope you’ll be able to join us next year in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX!

Hey Jeff!
Thanks for the elaboration. I’ll look into it and experiment also the end of next week– after I finish with my final exams and final projects.
I hope to attend the CNMC in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX next year. Over the Christmas break, I have a lunch meeting with the Communications Director with Special Olympics, who was my supervisor for an internship this past summer. We are going to talk about a possible job for next summer. Pray that I can get this job and if I do, I may indeed have another opportunity to attend the CNMC! (CNMC 2012 is the same week as the end of the first week of the Fall 2012 semester, my last semester, but since I’m majoring in journalism, the CNMC correlates with what I’m studying. All in all, Looking forward to God’s blessings in 2012!
In the Sacred Heart Chapel of Eucharistic Adoration at my parish, we have a book of prayer intentions and I add SQPN and Rosary Army to the prayer intentions list.
Finally, Jeff if you’re ever have a layover in Chicago, let me know and perhaps we can get together for lunch or dinner!
